American chipmaker Nvidia Corporation, a global leader in graphics processors and video adapters, made history in October 2025 by becoming the first technology company to surpass a $5 trillion market capitalization.
According to Reuters, the main driver behind this unprecedented surge is the soaring global demand for AI chips. Nvidia’s processors power the artificial intelligence infrastructure of OpenAI, Google, Meta, Amazon, Microsoft, and numerous cloud providers that train large language models and build next-generation data centers.
CEO Jensen Huang revealed that Nvidia currently holds over $500 billion in AI chip orders, with analysts projecting annual sales to exceed $300 billion by 2026 — far above Wall Street expectations.
Despite export restrictions to China and other regulatory risks, Nvidia continues to strengthen its dominance in the AI industry. The company has invested billions of dollars in OpenAI and other strategic partnerships. A portion of its contracts are tied to U.S. government projects, including the development of supercomputers, positioning Nvidia as a key player in national tech infrastructure as well as in the global market.
Reaching a $5 trillion valuation is more than just a milestone — it’s a message:
Nvidia is no longer just a chip manufacturer — it’s the architect of the world’s AI infrastructure.
The company’s massive backlog of confirmed orders provides strong revenue visibility for years ahead.
Yet, such high valuations raise questions: Is the market overestimating Nvidia’s potential? Could this be the next tech bubble in the making?
At the same time, Nvidia faces intensifying competition from AMD and other semiconductor producers, growing regulatory scrutiny, and the ongoing challenge of maintaining innovation across successive chip generations.
